What is Spex Day All About?
- Spex Day is a national school campaign to promote children wearing their prescribed glasses and increase awareness about vision impairments
- Each pupil will receive a pair of NCBI spex to decorate and wear for the day
- Classes can go through the educational activities in our booklet Finding Out About Sight Loss to learn more about vision impairments
Why should we sign up?
- Raise awareness about sight loss and make glasses "cool" with....
- Interactive lesson plans around the subject of sight loss that have been designed to fit into the primary curriculum
- Spex Day resource pack including NCBI spex, certificates and posters
- Faber-Castell supplies ( participating schools only, subject to availability)
What does the school have to do?
- Go through the suggested lesson plans about vision impairments
- Encourage students to customize their glasses frames and wear them
- Choose a winning pair of "spex" for each class level to enter into the Faber-Castell competition
- Collect €1 from participating students
- Most importantly.......Have Fun!
What will the money we raise go towards?
- Funds will go directly towards continuing to provide a support system to those living with sight loss in your area
